The Lord of Dreams cover image

The Lord of Dreams – now up for pre-order!

The Lord of Dreams is now up for pre-order! When a fairy king grants a human wish, there’s more at stake than dreams. Claire Delaney has a good life, despite her adolescent angst. But she wants more. In a moment of frustration, she wishes to be “the hero.” What she actually wants is to be the center of attention, but what she gets is a terrifying Fae king demanding that she rescue an imprisoned fairy, facing fantastical dangers and hardships she could not have imagined. Yet the dreams–and the rescue–are only the beginning of her journey. She is at the […]

Support a Fellow Indie Author – Brandon Barr

This post was sent as an email to my subscribers yesterday. If you’re not a subscriber, you can subscribe right now! You get a free short story for signing up. What do you think of my new email header? I think I like it. Cara (the owl) is so very dignified. ~~~ A fellow indie author, Brandon Barr, faced leukemia last year. A little over a week ago, he found out the leukemia had returned, and he’s already had his first round of chemo. I can only imagine how difficult this time is. I don’t know Brandon well, but I know […]

Guest Post: All About the Wonder 2

When I wrote the first post about noblebright fantasy, I got a comment from author L. Jagi Lamplighter (isn’t that a wonderful name?!) about the superversive literary movement. I’ll post more about that later, but I thought I’d start with this lovely essay about why she writes fantasy (reprinted with permission from her website here). All About The Wonder Recently, I met my first grader at the bus after school. As we walked home, he asked suddenly: “Mom, why do you write fantasy?” I must admit, I was taken aback. I did not have an easy answer ready on the tip […]

Light in the Darkness: A Noblebright Fantasy Boxed Set (second set of mini reviews)

As promised, here is my second set of mini reviews of the books in Light in the Darkness: A Noblebright Fantasy Boxed Set. You can find the first set of mini reviews here. If this is the first you’ve seen of noblebright fantasy, you can find an overview here on my site and on Noblebright.org. In that overview post, I promised reviews of the books in this first noblebright fantasy boxed set, along with content notes and caveats as appropriate. The books are in alphabetical order by author’s last name in the set, but that’s not the order in which I’m reading them, so […]

Light in the Darkness: A Noblebright Fantasy Boxed Set – pre-order status – UPDATED

Why?! The short version is that Amazon glitched up the pricing. Badly. The problem was solved a week ago, but the Amazon’s right hand didn’t talk to its left hand and they de-listed the set anyway because the left hand thought the problem still existed. So what happens now? I’m still trying to reach someone at Amazon who can actually solve the problem – I’ve talked to people who understand and acknowledge it was their mistake but can’t fix it, and I’ve talked with people who don’t understand the complaint at all (despite copious documentation from me). I hope it will […]
