I was recently asked to describe my writing process for novels and series. Hm. That’s a hard one. Every book has been different. Every series is different. This isn’t a post about how you should write your books and your series. This is about what I’ve done so far and how it has worked, as well as what I’m going to try to do next. The Short Version: Erdemen Honor evolved as a standalone, then a sequel, then a third book in the series. Each is a complete, self-contained story that builds on the previous books. A Long-Forgotten Song was a series from […]
Like many authors, I like to dream of my books being made into movies. Good ones, of course, with huge budgets so that all the props are meticulously detailed and the actors are perfect and the musical score is magnificent and original and awe-inspiring. My hypothetical movies will be like the Lord of the Rings movies (except without the tiny changes that are oh-so-important to Tolkien purists like me), so that the soul of the books and the characters is laid bare, brought to life for viewers who haven’t yet discovered the books themselves. So… who do I imagine playing my characters? […]
I just hit a major author milestone: FAN ART! This is, without any exaggeration, one of the most exciting things that has happened to me as an author. Not only did someone love my characters, but she loved my characters enough to draw them! As an author, this is makes my heart go pitter patter. This is why I write. Isn’t he cute? I love this drawing. I like this depiction of Kemen. In my head, he looks a bit like a darker-skinned, green-eyed, longer-haired, more muscular version of Egyptian actor Amr Waked (at least in this photo). Maybe a bit like this color […]
It’s done! It’s finally done. The ebooks are up on all major vendors and the paperbacks should be live in a matter of hours. The Dragon’s Tongue is the best book I’ve written thus far. You will love it. Seriously. The only thing better than this book is book 3, which is being edited now. I cannot wait for you to read these! Go go go! Reviews are appreciated, as always. You can find The Dragon’s Tongue on all the usual sites: Amazon/Kindle Smashwords B&N/Nook Direct from me
The cover artist for The Dragon’s Tongue (and the rest of the A Long-Forgotten Song series) sent me a sketch! I did the typography, and that’s not actually the final layout because obviously it will be book cover shaped. But seriously, how awesome is this? Also, you can preorder an ebook of The Dragon’s Tongue now!
Did you love The King’s Sword or Things Unseen? Write a review on Amazon, tell me about it using this form, and I’ll send you my short story Heroes for free!
It’s done! Things Unseen (A Long-Forgotten Song) is out! Things Unseen is the first book in my new dark, urban, Christian fantasy series. You can read an excerpt here, as well as find purchase links for ebooks and paperbacks. I’d also VERY much appreciate any reviews of Things Unseen if you have a chance! Check out the fantastic cover art! I love it! I even had the full digital painting made into posters in preparation for Awesome Con DC this weekend. I’m thrilled with the cover designer and look forward to working with him on the rest of the books in […]
